Add option to image element to use product metafield

We would like to have custom content on our product pages that is defined (referenced) in custom product metafields. There's multiple ways of defining the content in the metafields. For images you can either upload a file, or add a URL link to an existing file. To access this content requires simple custom liquid code, but when designing the page in gempages you cannot view the image, nor easily adjust the size of the image, nor add lazy-loading. All of these are essential when laying out a product page. Without this, we need separate templates for each product (for example women's t-shirt, men's t-shirt etc.) Please improve the Image element by allowing reference to a URL or File metafield within the product. e.g. product.metafields.custom.lifestyle_image_1
custom liquid code is pretty useless for this task.

Starting next month, GemPages will support adjusting elements with metafield source as you suggested!

Any update on this? How can I get the Image element to show the image referenced from within a product metafield?
