My phrasing might have been wrong, I mean that the custom code that you insert is limited to that section. There's no area where you can just write a and have it access and change any element on the site.

On shopify there's an area where you can write css code that can be applied anywhere in the theme but this does not help me with creating the webpages.

What I would suggest is an area where you can customize the html for each element so that you can add things such as an ID that can be edited by another thing I would suggest which is a "document script" area in which you can make changes to the CSS and JavaScript of the whole site page.

One of the things I'm being limited by is this:
I'm trying to change the heading of a 'product' element. I want it to change when a user selects a different variant of our product to include what flavor they have selected in the title. I started by trying to add a click event listener to the 'product variants and switches' area of my product element. When I tried to add an alert(); to the 'currentElement' variable it did nothing.

const currentElement = document.getElementById('{{rootClassName}}');

The string id that was in there before was replaced with this but the function that I had added didn't work and neither did any other javascript I tried to write.

I hope you understand the issue I'm struggling with, let me know if you need any further clarifications.

I've had issues with Google using meta descriptions from images instead of the page's meta description. It would be great to have a better solution for controlling SERPs

Hi there,

I'm so sorry that your inquiry hasn't been answered on time.

May I know if the issue has been resolved yet? if not, kindly send me the link of the page you're working on via steve@gempages.help

For your information, we're working the feature which allows us to add meta description right on GemPages editor instead of go all the way on Shopify Admin.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

All the best!
