Currently, when we create multiple products that belong to the same model (e.g., jewelry with variations such as engraving options), each product must be manually assigned to the correct GemPages template. This creates repetitive work and increases the chance of human error, especially in stores with many product variants.
I’d like to request a feature that allows GemPages to assign products to templates dynamically, based on conditions such as Shopify product tags, collections, product type, vendor, or metafields.
Example use case:
I have one product model, but several products/variants representing it (e.g., with engraving, without engraving).
Each model has its own GemPages template → but every new product requires manually assigning it to the template.
With dynamic rules, I could tag all related products (e.g., model_aurora) and they would automatically use the correct template.
Proposed solution:
In each template settings window, add a “Dynamic Assignment” section allowing the user to define rules:
“Apply this template to products with tag X”
“Apply this template to products from collection Y”
“Apply this template to products with metafield Z”
Once enabled, newly created products that match the rule would automatically use the assigned template — no manual work needed.
Benefits:
Saves significant time when managing many similar products
Eliminates manual assignment overhead
Reduces errors and ensures consistent branding
Makes GemPages much more scalable for stores with high SKU counts
